Bronze Medal For Aerobic Trio at Plovdiv Cup

An exciting finish to the competition season for 2019 saw NSW aerobic athletes take the international stage with the Australian team in Bulgaria, 26-27 October, for the Plovdiv Cup. The first stop for the group was Italy for acclimatisation training camp before they headed off to Bulgaria for the event.

NSW representatives Carissa Uno (All Starz Gymnastics and Dance) and Grace Kleppich (PLC Sydney) competed in the Senior Trio event with Victorian Olivia Feaver (Advantage Gymsports).

“The preparation leading up to this comp was different to others as Carissa and I had to travel interstate to Melbourne a few times to train with our third trio member, Olivia. It was the last competition of the year so we had to make sure we stayed on track; executing our skills and performing our routines well.” Grace told Gymnastics NSW after the event.

The training definitely paid off and the competition saw the trio take home a bronze medal on the final day of competition.

“The best thing about the event was representing Australia and bringing home a bronze medal. The atmosphere was amazing and being able to share the experience with my teammates and coaches made it even more special.” Grace reflected.

With the competition season coming to a close on a high for the trio and coach Gaia Brambilla, they will be getting straight back into their home gym clubs to start preparing for 2020.

Carissa now has her sights set on the new year, “Now it is time to prepare for the competition season for 2020, with new routines and skills, beginning at the National Squad Camp + Trials at the start of next year in hope to represent Australia again on the international stage in 2020.”
