What is Special Olympics?
The Special Olympics gymnastics program gives people with intellectual disabilities - of all ages and abilities - the opportunity to develop physical fitness, strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, confidence and friendships. Gymnastics is a fantastic community based activity for everybody to enjoy.

It is a requirement that all gymnasts with Down Syndrome are cleared that it is safe for them to participate in gymnastics by a doctor.
Opportunities
All Special Olympic gymnasts compete within NSW regional and State competitions. They also have the opportunity to attend a Special Olympic Invitational Competition each year.
Internationally, NSW Special Olympic Athletes have seen great success, returning from the
World Trisome Games with 2 Gold and 4 Silver and 8 Bronze medals.
